[“Five Years Time” by Noah and the Whale]
“Oh, well in five years we could be walking ’round a zoo…”
Five years is a long time.
In high school, thinking about the future was important, but very rarely was anything seriously considered past college. My tunnel vision was limited to the process of being in college and what that would be like. I had a general idea for after – I want to write and be happy.
Now I am looking at the next phase of my life. It is incredible and inspiring, because in five years, anything could happen. That is why I love this song so much right now.
“In five years time, I might not know you...”
I do not know where I will be in five years. I have absolutely no idea. And I love that. I love the sense of adventure. Of being young and alive. I want to travel. I want to finish my masters degree. I want to get a job. I would really like to be thinking about getting married and starting a family, but I have no idea. Maybe that is not God’s will for my life just yet, now or then.
“Wherever you go there’ll be love, love, love...”
My friends are absolutely incredible. Everyone makes an impression on the people they spend time with. I have picked up catchphrases, jokes, and ways of thinking from my friends. I absolutely love them so much, and cannot wait to hear about the adventures they have in their lives. I cannot wait to tell them about my own experiences and adventures.
“I’m always pretty happy when I’m just kicking back with you…”
The possibilities are endless. Life is so open-ended. I could be anywhere. I could be doing anything.
In five years, I could be anyone I want. I just have to make it happen.
